Big D and the Kids Table announce new album
'Fluent In Stroll' is Big D and the Kids Table's sixth full-length album.
Singer David McWane said the following about the forthcoming release: "We call our new record's style of music 'Stroll'. It's a mix of Hop-scotch, Double-Dutch, Soul, Ska and Reggae. I feel this record is most like our 1st record, Shot By Lammi. Everyone in Big D is in such a great place mentally right now, have it be simply because it's summer, or because of the great election we recently had, or maybe simply we're just a bit older and not moaning as much...so anyone who gets a hold of our new record will find that Fluent In Stroll is Big D back to where we began."
Fluent In Stroll was produced by Joe Gittleman (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones) and mixed by Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Dinosaur Jr., Uncle Tupelo.) Catch Big D on the entire 2009 Warped Tour in the US.
Limited edition signed copies of the new album are available for preorder from: http://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_home.php?storenr=103&deptnr=595

Sonic Boom Six single due for release - 6th July 2009
Manchester’s Sonic Boom Six release their new single ‘The Concrete We’re Trapped Within (It’s Yours)’ on July 6th through Rebel Alliance Recordings label. The first single to be taken from their critically-acclaimed album City of Thieves, the track’s mix of socially-conscious lyrics, dynamic rock hooks, jungle drum loops and energetic ska-punk is the ideal introduction to the signature sound of the band. In addition to recording a live session for the Radio 1 Punk Show, SB6 will be playing acoustic in-store shows up and down the country around the single’s release to promote the track and sign copies of the album.
Available as CD and download, the formats include two previously unreleased tracks, a new remix and the video of ‘The Concrete We’re Trapped Within (It’s Yours)’.

People in Planes - new album released July 2009
People in Planes dynamic album ‘Beyond the Horizon’ will be released in the UK on 6th July on Wind-up Records via ADA Global.
Fresh from supporting Funeral for a Friend, People in Planes have become essential listening for those in the know. With attention from BBC Radio 1, XFM, BBC 6 Music, NME TV and Kerrang! TV, their incredibly tight, seamless guitar anthems dazzle with interlaced guitar riffs and drumming bass lines. It is no surprised that these boys from Cardiff have garnering awe-inspiring comparisons to Radiohead, Pearl Jam and Muse. They also supported The Stereophonics in the States and Biffy Clyro in the UK before Christmas, plus are very excited about playing Download this summer.
The album was produced by Dan Austin (Doves, Massive Attack), and also in conjunction with outfit Eleven, longtime collaborators with Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age, and producers of acts such as No Doubt and Josh Homme. Eleven member Natasha Schneider sadly finally succumbed to cancer this year, and it is to her the new album is dedicated. She made a huge impact on the band.
Bassist Kris agrees that the intensity of the experience at Rockfield Studios in Wales really helped them drum out an album of precision and intensity. “Recording in the countryside puts you in a totally different headspace to the busy hectic City life. Personally I would opt for the country every time, less distractions and it’s a better way to clear your head and stay focused for longer.” The band was hungry to improve on their sound and move forward. “We re-wrote parts of the songs to make them as perfect as we could,” muses frontman Pete. “It was painstaking at the time but looking at it now from a distance, you reap the rewards I think. Blood and guts went into it.”
Listening to Beyond the Horizon you can’t help but be drawn in to a raft of tunes; the resounding emotion of ‘Pretty Buildings’, the pensive progression of ‘Evil With You’ and its infectious guitar riff, the urgency of ‘Mayday’ and the incredible seductive saunter of ‘Last Man Standing’ all blend to make an album of resounding quality that melts into sonic liquidity.
People in Planes are Gareth Jones (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Peter Roberts (guitar, vocals), Kris Blight (bass), John Maloney (drums) and Ian Russell (keyboard).

Placebo to headline itunes Festival on 14th July and tour UK in December
PLACEBO ANNOUNCED AS ITUNES FESTIVAL HEADLINE ACT ON JULY 14TH AS NEW ALBUM ‘BATTLE FOR THE SUN’ RIDES HIGH ACROSS THE WORLD
Placebo are pleased to announce that they will headline the iTunes Festival at The Roundhouse in London on July 14th. This follows the band’s recent worldwide chart-storming success of the release of their new and now critically acclaimed album ‘Battle for the Sun’. Placebo stormed the charts across Europe and worldwide, hitting No.8 in the UK and entering the charts at No.1 in nine countries, including a first ever No.1 in Germany. The band hit the top five in nineteen other countries and they have also had their first ever Billboard Top 100 placing in the US at No.51. Right across the board, ‘Battle for the Sun’ has bettered all previous chart positions in Placebo’s 13-year history.
This, along with 25 European festival appearances this summer (including a return to the mainstage at the Reading/Leeds festivals) and a huge arena tour booked for later in the year, culminating in The O2 Arena in London in December, shows the band going from strength to strength. In short, 2009 is shaping up to be a very good year for Placebo!
The December dates are as follows:
Tuesday 08th Birmingham LG Arena
Wednesday 09th London The O2
Friday 11th Bridlington Spa
Saturday 12 Manchester Central
Monday 14th Glasgow SECC
Tuesday 15th Dublin Olympia Theatre
Wednesday 16th Dublin Olympia Theatre

Festival Time!
It's all about the very many awesome festivals going on in 2008! Here at Push To Fire, we're hunting out the best locations, experiences and of course line-ups to let you know where to be this year!
My highlights are definately going to be:
1. SLAM DUNK Festival in Leeds. I've never been before and the line-up is really strong, with Fightstar, Brigade, Kids in Glass Houses and Flood of Red being excellent bands to see live.
2. ZOO8 Festival. This is brand new this year but the line-up is just incredible!
Mark Ronson will be headlining, and I'm definately excited to see the likes of The Cribs, Hadouken! and The Young Knives too! And to make it just that littl
e bit more special, it's taking place in an animal park! Hence the name... ^-^

Above all, the atmosphere there is unlike any other festival. The smaller stage line-up's are looking really strong so it looks like it's going to be a good one!
Hopefully see everyone there!

I Was A Girl Guide
Lots more great updates on the website now! We've put up the You Me At Six interview and some pictures! It was the guys own idea to use the random shopping trolley, but it made for a good shoot! They were a really great band to interview - they had their own opinions and views of the music industry and their position in it, it was really nice to interview them.
We've also got a photography gallery from the I Was A Cub Scout tour with Rolo Tomassi, one of my personal favourites, and Lovvers. These pictures are amazing! Definately check them out!
And our newest gallery is of The Metros at the Adelphi in Hull, with photos taken by Jonno Witts. These are also really great so make sure you have a look!

She's In Fashion...
Push To Fire's fashion pages have to be amongst my favourites on the site! I especially love the interview our photography editor Suzy did with the alternative model Ulorin Vex - it's really interesting to hear how she got into modelling and her experiences of it so far. Definately worth a read!

Welcome!
This is Push To Fire's official blogsite!
Me and my lovely co-editors Suzy and Annabel will be posting on here about what's going on with the zine - from what we've got coming up on the website, our favourite things from what's already up there, to inside info on what it's like to run a zine!
So, to begin, I'd like to let you all know that we've just uploaded some photos of You Me At Six from their recent tour. It was freezing that night but we heard fans had been queueing outside since 12.30! The venue was packed and everyone seemed really excited to see the band, which was awesome.
We've also got an interview with the guys and a review of the night, so keep checking the website for news on those!
Love and e-hugs,
Rachel
